I'm in the studio with Andy Green, and we're going to be playing some of Andy Green's

conversations with Billy Joel, who just celebrated his 70th birthday at Madison Square Garden as one does.

And we are deep into the Billy Joel Assance, which kind of started in 2012 when he was supposed to be retired,

but he got on stage at the 1212

concert which was for Hurricane Sandy and he basically blew like every other

classic rock legend who was there off the stage. Yeah it's a pretty amazing

thing it was his first concert in like two and a half legend who was there off the stage. Yeah, it's a pretty amazing thing.

It was his first concert in like two and a half years.

He had gotten hip replacement surgery.

He was very retired.

And they put him on the same bill as the Stones and the Who and Bruce Springsteen and Roger Waters and

Kagnay West even and he just destroyed all of them that they had bad nights and

he'd a killer night. Yeah everyone had a off night we were saying like the who decided to play bell boy,

Rajadolter took a shirt off.

Everyone was kind of under rehearsed and kind of like grudgingly there.

They had to be there and it just wasn't actually that's a good point they were on tour

He was well rested. Yeah, that's actually a really good distinction right in heeded three songs

But the amazing thing mobility is his voice is so well preserved on that night it was perfect and he just killed and the press noticed and he was very happy

but the reception and that caused him to start booking more shows which sort of led to this huge

comeback.

Yeah he has this entirely unprecedented Mason Square Garden residency which I think people kind of
