0:00.0 | Welcome everybody to Conversations. I'm John Bevere joined by my beautiful wife Lisa and today we have a guest and I'm so excited about our guest Lisa. We have Miss Jordan Lewis who is our pastor of our staff at Messenger International and also head of the HR department glad it's you Jordan and not me. |
0:25.0 | They do absolutely do and so it's a real pleasure to have you on today. A couple of preliminaries we're going to do here. I hope you guys really enjoyed the last podcast where we talked about how to successfully navigate conflict in relationships. |
0:43.0 | We don't know anything about that as too hot. We've learned it the hard way right. But and also we just want to remind you that we've you know conversations is just one of the many podcasts of Messenger International. We've got let's talk about it with sons and daughters. We've got the messenger podcast and we've got the new one coming up called Godmothers aka Lisa Bevere's podcast and I'm so excited about that. Maybe I'll even get to come on as a guest one day. But if you behave. |
1:12.0 | I behave. Okay. I'll try hard today. I'll try not to interrupt you. I just turned 61 yesterday. So I'm trying not to interrupt Lisa. That's my New Year's resolution. I'm talking about my new years. Anyway, today we want to turn our attention to something that has just come before the forefront of our nation in just the past couple of weeks. It is created a very heavy heart and a lot of us and that is the prejudice, the hatred, the writing that is going on. |
1:39.0 | And the thing that I think really affected me deeply was the death of George Floyd. And so in order to to really set this up, I want to look at it first of all from the God view. I want to see the way God looks at different ethnic groups, the ratio, the races and reconciliation and all of this. |
2:02.0 | The scripture that keeps coming to my mind through all of this is out of revelations, Lisa and Jordan. And that is revelations seven nine, which says after this, I saw a vast crowd. Too great to count from every nation and tribe and people and language standing in front of the throne of the lamb. God loves. And I can't say it's strong enough. He loves variety. |
2:30.0 | This is why God created different people now all human beings are created in the image and likeness of God, but he loves the variety. And if you look at every nation, every ethnic group, every tribe, we have different gifts and abilities that are God given that God intended for mankind to celebrate, not to divide over. |
2:51.0 | And truthfully, a true believer really shouldn't have any prejudice in their heart because the Apostle Paul made the statement in Galatians chapter three verse 28. He said, there is neither Jew nor Greek. |
3:08.0 | There is neither slave nor free. There is neither male nor female, but you're all one in Christ Jesus. We're all part of one body. And I think it's interesting that he covers the three areas that there has been division over down through history of mankind. |
3:26.0 | First of all, when he says Gentile or Jew, he's talking about ethnic groups. He's talking about race. If you look at the time the Jews were in bondage to the Romans, if the Romans said, walk my horse one mile, you know, Jesus said, hey, don't be a slave to any Roman. |
3:44.0 | He said, the way you combat that is serve them, love them and walk their cult two miles. If you look at the next one, slave or free, that deals with our, our, our position in society, as far as how much money do I make? What's my status in society? |
4:01.0 | You got blue collar workers, you got white collar workers. Are you going to divide over that? Are you going to rejoice? I mean, I used to look. I was an engineer for IBM. And I remember when I walked out in the floor and the technicians out there, I felt like they were smarter than me. I felt like they were more gifted than me. I'm like, they probably were. They probably actually were. And I remember, I remember the stupid engineers taught down to the technicians as if they were below them. I always befriended them and said, I'm in awe of your abilities. |
4:30.0 | And so, you know, there have been, and then the last one is gender and there have, has been so much gender prejudice. And so I look at this, which God rejoices in, the heartache that has occurred down through history. |
4:48.0 | At least, and I have been to nations where we have seen just heartbreaking things that have happened. And even generations later, the heart, the pain in the people. |
4:57.0 | I'm thinking about when I was preaching in Ukraine, how do Ukrainian leaders looked at me and said, hey, Stalin just didn't kill, you know, seven million people as the statistic said, they said he killed over 20 million Ukrainians just because we were Ukrainian. |
5:13.0 | If you look at Hitler killing some say six million, some say 12 million, they vary. If you look at the killing fields in Cambodia, at least in Iowa in Cambodia, the way they tortured people to death, the way they treated people. |
5:27.0 | And this was the slave in the Jew, or excuse me, this was the slave in the free man, because the killing fields in Cambodia were three million people were killed. |
5:38.0 | That was all the, anybody that wore glasses, anybody that was a doctor, anybody that was a professional, they were all killed by the people that found the land. They had a revolt. |
5:48.0 | Pull pot. Yes. Yes. And there's others. If you look at what the Nazis did, three million polls, Polish people, they executed. You can look at what happened with the Mongolians in the West. We can go on and on. It adds up to well over 30 million. |
6:04.0 | Now I am sitting there thinking when George Floyd was murdered by someone who should have protected him, someone who wore a badge and our government gave him the, the authority to protect and serve George Floyd, when he was murdered ruthlessly. |
6:19.0 | I couldn't sleep that night after I watched that video Jordan, I woke up three times and could not get back to slave all I kept thinking is Jesus, I hope he knew you. |
6:29.0 | I just hope it is horrified. It seems like he did. Yeah. So, okay, now let's multiply what I went through one night over George by 30 million. See, the problem we have here right now is these numbers are just numbers. |
