Well, hey, I'm Timothy Ateak, Executive Director of Breakway Ministries, and I have the privilege of sitting here with two of my close friends,

Jimmy McNeil and Makato Hinson.

And today we have the opportunity to sit together

and have a conversation about race.

You know, a lot of people are doing what we're doing right now.

There's been plenty of conversations happening in our

world around the topic of race. We're not doing this today to just be one more group of people

that are raising our voice and talking. We're doing this specifically for the Aggie community.

And the reason that I've invited these friends is because they're already known and loved by the Aggie community.

Jimmy McNeil has served at Breakway.

He's been a part of Breakway worship for years.

He's also a worship leader at the Austin Stone.

Makato is the director of player development here at A&M, which means that he works very closely

with the Texas A&M football team as well as other athletes in this community.

And so my hope is that we can speak specifically into the lives of Aggies on the topic of race.

Pastor Tony Evans, I think, explained the times that we're living in really well.

He said that we are in the midst of a medical pandemic and a cultural pandemic because there's a spiritual

pandemic. That's a really interesting time to be living in and leading in when you're

talking about a medical, a cultural, and a spiritual pandemic all at the same time. And you know what? Conversations like

these should have been happening for decades, but it's really just in the last month, as we've seen

with Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd's tragic deaths that are now bringing to the service conversations that really need to be had.
