Last week, the new president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dallin Oaks, picked his second apostle.

For observers, there's always a bit of intrigue about these decisions. They look for clues about

what the pick tells us about the church president or the church itself. Oaks picked a man named

Clark Gilbert to replace Jeffrey Holland, who died in December.
