Hi John. That's fair right you were sort of a yeah yeah you did everything because any

occasion to give people presents that was like your families that was my family's thing yeah yeah yeah

um but as an adult no I don't I don't celebrate Christmas yeah but I'm a great fan of

eye trappings and all the love colors and sounds and movies and all the rest of it.

I wrote a piece for American consequences in online magazine about the invention of Christmas

Dickens invention of Christmas and everything and how people who are not Christian don't understand

the unalloyed joy that you can take in Christmas as somebody who doesn't celebrate Christmas

because whatever fraughtness you have about Christmas and everybody seems to you know it's like

it's wonderful but there's family tension or you know kids are disappointed in their presents or

something happens or the you know have to do the lights and unstring the light and all that all

that stuff that that that that is fraughtness we have none up so all we have is the music and the

movies and we get to walk around looking at the beautiful lights you put on your houses and we get

to you Chinese food on Christmas day and go to the movies and so um I have just deeply

uncomplicated feelings about American Christmas that do not involve religion or family or anything
