On the morning of June 16, 2009, the father and son were walking along a beach known as Ross's Point in Sligo Harbor, which is a town on the north side of Ireland. As they walked along, they stumbled on a man lying on the beach. The man was wearing

a purple-striped speedo with a navy shirt tucked into them, and it was clear the man was dead.

The two of them quickly set a prayer for the man and then contacted the police. Then, a little

over an hour later, the man was officially pronounced dead by a coroner.

Afterward, the police needed to figure out who the man was and what had happened to him,

but this would go into be a five-month investigation,

and at the end of it, they weren't any closer to identifying the man

or explaining any of the strange actions of his last days.

The man who was found on the beach was first seen in Ireland four days earlier on Friday,

That day he arrived at the Ulster bus station in the afternoon sometime between 2.30 and 4 o'clock.

There he got on the bus to Sligo Harbor and was seen carrying a black shoulder bag and a black

rolling carry-on-sized luggage bag. Then he got on the

bus to the Sligo and arrived at the Sligo bus station several hours later around 6.30.

Then he took a taxi to the Sligo Hotel, where he checked in and paid with cash. The

name he used to check in with was Peter Bergman and the address he gave was for somewhere
