Welcome to the podcast. This is episode 425. I'm Douglas Wilson. I'm the host. You are you and you're the guest. Thanks for coming. So I think it's time for us to talk about assassination attempts. As I'm recording this, the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and others, apparently,

at the White House Correspondence dinner, has just happened. And America is so polarized that people

immediately took sides about that. People were honestly saying that Trump faked or rigged the Butler, Pennsylvania

assassination attempt, as sort of like a photo to get him that great fight, fight, fight,

photo. And man, to think that Donald Trump had put that much trust in a young sharpshooter,

okay, make sure you just graze the ear, you know, come on.

So people were seriously maintaining that these were put up jobs and that Trump was sort of grandstanding and trying to do this,

you know, be the hero. And people immediately started saying the same thing about this,

about this attempt. So now the retort from the left is going to be,

look, there are right wing wack wackos also. You know,

there was a shooter in Buffalo that I think was, went into a synagogue and shot it up. So are there

unhinged people on the right? Yes, there are unhinged people on the right. Is it possible for someone to believe the

right-wing rage machine and go shoot somebody, murder somebody in an unconscionable way? Is that possible?

Yes, that's possible. That kind of thing does happen. But when it happens,

and this is really important, this is really important, when that kind of thing happens,

every conservative voice that has any kind of a microphone at all condemns it, smacks it down, condemns it, rejects it,

this is not the way. This guy doesn't represent us. He's, you know, what,

this is not how we settle our differences and so on. The left doesn't do that. So as I'm

recording this, the first lady, Melania, is challenging Jimmy Kimmel, who recently called her an expectant widow, as though that's the punchline of a joke.

And you think, okay, huh. Now, so when you have officials on the Democratic Party, leaders, podcasters, late night comedians, consultants, that kind of, you know, sort of not only not condemning the action, but sort of positively egging it on, then it starts start, we start to realize, okay, we have this

climate of hatred. We've got these chest-high thistles because somebody is spraying it with

miracle grow. They want this climate of hatred. They want it. They need it. And so what can you do about that? Well,
