My grandmother lived a life devoted to Jesus, and today her talks have been made available

in their original form.

So you too can be built up through the insights and mysteries God revealed to her throughout

her ministry.

Now without further ado, here is Elizabeth Elliott.

It's a privilege to talk to you this morning on a topic from which I shrank at the beginning,

not with reference to this particular invitation, but for several years I avoided this topic

entirely.

It was one which really was not of any interest to me and I was dragged as it were kicking

and screaming into the question of feminism because there were so many very strident

voices saying things which I felt were unscriptural and I finally felt that it was time to make

a statement of my own.

And as a result of this and the book that I wrote I have been invited to speak several

times on the topic.

And I was just saying to Laurel Williams this morning that I found it a little bit puzzling

to know just exactly what was expected when these two topics were assigned.

So you may not get just what you were expecting.

But in speaking about the Christian reaction to the feminist movement, I won't go into

very much detail about the secular feminist movement, but I do want to talk about the so-called

Christian feminist movement and obviously we can't define the Christian reaction to

that movement without knowing something about what feminism is.
