chosen to join us for a few moments today. This is a special edition of our broadcast,

and we're examining some current questions and Bible answers.

Now, the last two days, we have spent on one question, so we've got to catch up a little bit today.

Let me examine a couple of questions in this particular time we have together.

The first, I think, is so, so good.

Frankly, it's something that has been on my mind lately, and the Holy Spirit has been teaching me some things about it frankly an area that i have felt very weak in spiritually as far as one of

the spiritual disciplines and i think all of us could improve the question is this what does the bible

say about fasting and maybe even more personally and practically should we fast.

Now, the short answer to that is yes, but why?

And what does the Bible say about it?

Frankly, I think most of us are better at feasting than we are fasting.

But the Bible does teach that fasting is to be a part of the Christian's disciplines in Scripture.

It is most often connected to prayer. We'll talk more about that in just a moment.

It's not my purpose in our discussion today to deal with all the different types of fast or the motivations to fast.

You can find those scattered throughout both the Old and New Testament.

And also, I don't have the time to elaborate on the practicalities of it.

There are a number of very, very helpful books out on fasting in the context, not just

of health, the physical, but for spiritual purposes.

And I would recommend that you do some research and do some reading

so that you can know how to do this effectively.

But let me just answer the basic question today of what does the Bible say about it and should we do it?
