Welcome back to current affairs, our show about the cases of love gone fatally wrong

Wednesdays for our main full-length episodes. On the night of March 3, 2022, a 39-year-old father of

three named Eric Richens drank a Moscow mule his wife made for them in their bedroom in Francis, Utah.

By the morning, he was dead. The medical examiner found five times the lethal level of fentanyl in his blood.

His wife, Corey Richens, called 911 just after 3 a.m.

She told dispatchers she had gone to comfort a child having nightmares and returned to

find Eric cold and unresponsive.

EMTs noted he appeared to have been dead for hours.

14 months later,

Corey self-published a children's picture book called Are You With Me?

About a boy coping with the loss of his father.

She appeared on local television to promote it,

telling interviewers that the writing process brought peace to her and her three sons.

Just weeks after that TV appearance,

she was arrested and charged with aggravated murder. Last Sunday, March 16th, a summit county jury needed roughly three hours to

convict her on all counts. So we covered this case in its very early days on current affairs.

We have not done a full-length episode yet on this case, though many of you

guys have asked, so it might be coming up eventually. But for anyone unfamiliar, here is some

background that you need to know. Eric Richens grew up on a cattle ranch in Bountiful, Utah. He served

a Latter-day Saints mission in Mexico City, earned a degree from the University of Utah,

and built a successful masonry company with a partner.
