He's kind of like a walking encyclopedia of the city's history.

The stockyard itself, that is the union stockyard, which was the livestock market, was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It never closed.

I worked there at the end of the stockyard era, and I remember working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

We were always open just in case some farmer from Iowa brought some cattle in

and had to be, you know, penned.
