It is one of the defining moments of life that you cannot control. It is not like an engagement. It is not like a prom night. It is not like a

wedding where you have all of the elements that you dream and you execute them and they look so

pretty and perfect on your

Instagram. Every birth is different, just like every pregnancy is different, every face is different,

every set of fingerprints. Every birth is different. And it is one of those things where no matter how

many pictures you look at, no matter how many stories you read,

no matter how many videos you sit through or lectures from your friends or doctors, you don't know

how it's going to go. You don't know how your body is going to feel. And it can be very,

very scary because so many people talk about how painful childbirth is.

It's meant to be painful.

So I'm a huge fan of two people in this sphere.

One is Ina Mae Gaskin, who is considered the most prolific world-renowned midwife who happens to have a birth commune and has attended

I read online that it was 1,200 births, but I bet it's more like in the thousands.

And she has just incredible statistics from the farm, which is essentially her birthing commune,

where women make a pilgrimage and they have their babies and they have very successful, positive outcomes.
