Summary

A young recruit embarks on Basic Military Training soon after 9/11, leaving behind a gravely ill grandmother who raised her. A few weeks in, she experiences a vivid dream—more real than any she’s had before—where her grandmother appears happy, whole, and free from her pain. Though she senses it’s her final farewell, the comfort she gains from that brief reunion transcends the heartbreak of losing her in reality.
