0:41.7	It was about a 14-year-old kid in Florida who had died by suicide.
0:46.4	His mom, she filed a lawsuit against this company called Character.AI.
0:52.3	Now, the company makes chatbots.
0:54.6	Chatbots said at market says,
0:56.4	AI that feels alive.

1:02.2	Well, this mom says it shouldn't,
1:04.2	that this chatbot duped her son,
1:06.7	that the company should have designed the chatbot
1:08.8	so that her son couldn't develop
1:10.3	what she calls an inappropriate relationship with it.
1:14.1	She says that basically the relationship with the chatbot made her son even more depressed and drove him to take his life.
1:23.0	Now, as AI makes its way into so much of our technology, things are getting complicated.
1:29.3	Like, can we program empathy into a chatbot? Should we?
1:35.3	There are a lot of things that this tech can do. There are a lot of things it can't do.
