There are so many things we think we know but we don’t really know. When you hear someone use the word communism, socialism, Marxism, fascism…do you know what they mean? Or do you just have a general idea? Where did these ideas even come from? How did our governments evolve? What’s an aristocracy, a democracy, a kleptocracy? We keep talking about oligarchs…What’s an oligarchy? How is it different than a plutocracy? What is going on in the world and how did we get here? Honestly, this pod started as a an extended “I don’t think that word means what you think it means” and turned into a brief history of the world. 0:58.8	Today we're going to talk about the history of government, the birth of politics, the world
1:02.7	orders that led us to where we are now, and the definitions and backgrounds of many of
1:06.9	the isms you hear all the time, things like capitalism, fascism, socialism, communism,
1:13.8	all words that are often used indiscriminately, often incorrectly, and mostly out of context.
1:19.6	These are concepts and historical contexts that we should know, but we kind of don't.
