Who knows whether there has been enough of war?

But it will never come to an end unless someone

grasps the palm branch which a spiritual power alone can proffer.

Blood will wash over Europe

until the nations perceive the fearful madness

which is driving them about in a circle.

Until arrested by holy music and soothed,

they approach former altars in multi-hued fusion

and undertake works of peace until a great feast of love is celebrated

as a festival of peace amid hot tears upon smoking battlefields. Only religion can waken Europe again and reassure the peoples

and install Christendom with new splendour visibly on earth in its old peace establishing office.

We are going back to our roots here on Young Hertics doing some old-style

episodes, kind of like classic mode in a video game. We've been adventuring out into some more sort of exploratory, longer form series about different authors and how they fit together and periods over time.

Now we're going to go back for a while

to the old format of one text at a time,

really digging into something

and getting to know an author or a work of literature or perhaps art or poetry, music, whatever, that I think can really

enrich us at this moment and that probably needs to be part of the conversation as we move forward into the digital age and all the crazy politics that we're currently up against.

And so today I wanted to introduce you to kind of like the most important writer of the Western canon that y'all have never heard of.

I mean, maybe you've heard of him, but if the name Novales means anything to you, I suspect you're in kind of a select crew.
