Here's the base idea.

Every excess that you have hides a whole.

Everything that you overdo is to hide what you lack.

If you overwork, overeat, overspend, over drink, over shop, over binge watch TV, over

indulge in social media, news media, porn, gambling, drugs, all those are the same, by

the way.

It is because you have a whole, wait, that sounded weird.

It is because of a void that you have, something that you lack.

It is an overcompensation, which is doing one thing too much to make up for or to correct

another thing.

But in doing so, it creates a different problem, usually a far more consequential and destructive

one at that.

For instance, overeating is usually to hide feelings of powerlessness or anxiety.

Overdrinking is usually to hide feelings of boredom or stress.

Overspending and shopping is usually to hide feelings of insecurity or lack of acceptance

and approval.

Overbending TV is usually to hide feelings of worry and adequacy and meaninglessness.
