IBM is caught in a bad romance.

In a classic case, if it's not you, it's me,

Big Blue is dumping its IT infrastructure unit so it can focus on the cloud, the separation sending shares

sharply higher by almost 6% today.

Well, IBM has seen little love from investors too over the last nearly decade.

So IBM trying a different tack here splitting itself into two, announcing this morning that it will list its IT services

unit as a separate company with a new name by the end of next year.

So essentially separating its shrinking legacy business from its much faster growing and higher

margin cloud computing business. Now investors initially cheering that
