| 0:00.0 | Welcome to this episode of Real Christianity. My name is Dale Partridge. For each week, I offer 15 to 20 minute answers to tough theological and pastoral questions. |
| 0:17.0 | This show is a 100% listener supported audio ministry of relearn.org. And for those who don't know, our mission at relearn.org is to bring the church back to the Bible. For bold daily encouragement, just join the over 500,000 Christians who follow us on social media by searching for relearn.org on any platform. |
| 0:40.0 | Okay, everyone. It's undeniable that we are living in a hyper-emotional era. And as many of you know, this has spread into the church. And for the past decade, and maybe more, everything is about experience and music and ambiance and entertainment. |
| 1:01.0 | And even more, the focus has shifted from the biblical text to modern prophecy and spiritual experiences and healings and miracles. And some churches even have their own prophets and healers and apostles. |
| 1:17.0 | And they preach that others can have access to these spiritual supernatural gifts if they just have enough faith. There are some churches that even offer schools for supernatural ministry, something that you can actually learn, implying that it's basically not a gift, but a skill that you have access to as a believer. |
| 1:41.0 | Unfortunately, many Christians fall prey to these unbiblical ideas because they lack a theology of spiritual gifts. Today, I'm going to be breaking down part of this discussion. |
| 1:56.0 | We're not going to go for a full deep dive on the theology of spiritual gifts. But I will be discussing the difference between continuationism and cessationism and why I have cited with the latter. |
| 2:08.0 | But before we dive in, I just want to make two quick announcements before we get into this episode. |
| 2:14.0 | Number one, I'm planning to take a semi sabbatical for the next three months, starting in March. So our team has made special arrangements for the podcast. |
| 2:26.0 | So for the first five Wednesdays of March, 2021, we will be airing five interviews that I recorded with five incredible theologians. We have Dr. Steve Lawson talking about expository preaching. |
| 2:41.0 | Dr. James White, I spoke with about apologetics. Doug Wilson, we talked about the Biblical family. Dr. Tom Askel from Founders Ministry. |
| 2:52.0 | Dr. Dustin Benge, we are talking about church history. It's going to be an incredible series. It's called the theologian series. |
| 3:03.0 | We have several more interviews coming out later in the year. For the month of April and part of May, we're going to be re-airing our top seven most popular episodes out of the, I don't know, by that time maybe 140 total episodes. |
| 3:21.0 | Then I'm going to return with a new season of real Christianity with a focus on some more verse by verse exposition of really popular Biblical passages. |
| 3:34.0 | And it doesn't mean that I'll stop the topical issues, but I'm going to spend a little bit more time tackling some important passages of scripture and breaking them down expositionally for you. |
| 3:46.0 | So that's announcement number one. Announcement number two is reformation seminary. I want to talk about that. |
| 3:54.0 | Thousands of Christians have planted house churches in the past several months due to COVID and some of the government regulations, especially in states like New York and California and Oregon, Washington. |
| 4:07.0 | And unfortunately, the vast majority of these churches are more like Bible studies and not Biblical house churches. |
| 4:16.0 | Furthermore, you know, many of them are not led by Biblically qualified and theologically trained pastors. They're mostly led by maybe someone who's, you know, spiritually mature and was just willing to say, hey, let's just do this together. |
| 4:31.0 | Let's just start meeting together as families or as individuals here on Sunday instead. |
| 4:38.0 | But we have to remember that Jesus did not send out the disciples until they had three years of training. |
| 4:45.0 | And so our ministry, we saw a weakness in the current seminary system. And, you know, first, you know, many of the seminaries that are out there were very clinical. |
