Summary

"September 5" had its world premiere at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival in the Orizzonti Extra section, where it received positive reviews for its unique approach toward the Munich massacre of 1972 from the perspective of the ABC Sports crew and their coverage of the events. The film has gone on to receive nominations from the Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture - Drama, the Producers Guild Of America as one of the ten best films of the year, the Critics Choice Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing, and the Film Independent Spirit Awards for Best Editing. It's America versus Cuba. Sure you want to bring in the politics? It's not about politics. It's about a mush. Well, Tim, thank you so much for taking time with me today.

0:56.5	September 5th is so powerful, so I really appreciate your time. There have been other films and
1:01.9	stories told from, you know, other angles of this terrorist attack. What drew you to telling the story
1:07.6	from the angle of the television news crew? Well, yeah, it's...
1:12.8	I was faced with that question often when developing the movie, right?
1:17.9	The same question that we had movies that dealt with the subject
1:21.0	also great movies like Spielworks, Munich.
1:23.2	But I think what hasn't been explored was the role of the media,
1:28.6	that the role that the media played on that day.
1:32.4	We thought that especially from today's point of view,
1:35.7	where we are living in such a rapidly evolving,
1:39.4	where we're surrounded by such a rapidly evolving media landscape,
1:42.6	it is interesting to see how a little bit more
1:45.1	than 50 years ago for the first time a tragedy like that was on live television.

1:52.5	So to tell it entirely from the perspective of these sports broadcasters.
