I have to admit to you, confess to you,

prayer is such a giant subject.

I was actually a little baffled on how to start this series

because it has so many different facets.

I typed the word prayer into Amazon.com.

It brought up 136,000 books on prayer. So we have a few weeks to talk about this.

Then I typed prayer into Google.

It brought up 136 million web pages about prayer, including 4 million videos on prayer,

including 4 million books on prayer, and six million news articles on prayer.

Now I have been a pastor for about 40 years, and I've learned a lot about prayer.

And some of the things I've observed is this.

Number one, I've learned we are wired to pray. We're wired for prayer. Your creator

designed you in a way that prayer seems natural. Everybody in the world prays. Everybody does.

Buddhists pray, Hindus pray, Muslims pray, Jews pray, Christians pray, secular people pray.

Even an atheist pray, if you heard him, they go hit him in the stomach, goes, oh God.

He didn't say, oh me.

When the atheist heard, he always calls out to God or Jesus.
