My name is Christine Blackburn, and I'm here with Hanna Sfini, and we're coming to you from Marathon, Greece. Yes, we've traveled overseas in our jet of truth today. We're in Marathon Greece, a mere 26.2 miles from Athens. You know, that's where the marathon gets its name. No, I do know that because I ran a marathon, and that's not a brag. But did you know the story of why? It's sort of a humble brag. Yeah, because somebody had to send a message. It was like, it was a message, a very important message, and there was no telethon. A Greek runner, yeah. It had run from Marathon to Athens to tell the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon.

1:29.4

So that's why it's 26.2 miles, which is a really weird amount of time, just because a guy was actually able to run that whole distance.

1:37.6

Right.

1:38.3

Not stop.

1:39.4

And people do that now all the time.

1:41.5

You know, the top marathon runners can do that like in two hours in 22

1:45.8

minutes? Two hours and 16 minutes. These guys are running. They're running less than five minute

1:51.9

miles for 26 miles. Do you know what I mean? So they're not only running like they're not just

1:57.2

sprinting. They're sprinting from here to Los Angeles. Iueless. I'm afraid, like the L.A. Marathon just generally to me, especially when I used to work in an office on Wilshire, it just meant horrible traffic. Yeah, I don't know. I tell you, when there's a big run like that or something for charity or even something for profit, I think, like, could we all just relax and give it a second? Because I know people freak out about not being able to get out of the neighborhood or whatever. I used to have this job where I had to work on the weekends. So I had to figure out how, and I worked on Wilshire, and the marathon went down sixth, which is the next big street over. So I, and I lived basically inside the circle of the marathon. You were like a rat in a cage and you couldn't get out. Yes, yes. I get it. I get it. But you know the marathon's coming and maybe think ahead. That's all. No, I had to think ahead and I don't like that kind of thing. Anyway, the point is, I hate thinking ahead. Our guest tonight, she's not even talking about running, so this was new. I don't

2:50.8

care what she's talking about. I'm still pissed from 15 years ago when I had this job. We have a fantastic guest here tonight. Sophie Venable is here, and she brings forth the topic 50-mile fun ride. And so she's actually talking about a bicycle ride, a 50-mile bicycle ride. But technically, they're still marathons, even if they're on bikes.

3:09.2

Well, I don't think,, even if they're on bikes.

3:09.1

Well, I don't think, I think if you're on a bike, it would have to be like 100 miles as a marathon. Because a bike ride isn't, you know what I mean? It's not as... Are you saying that... 50 miles is nothing. No. 50 miles is nothing. You think if she tells us that her legs hurt, we're going to be like, get out.

3:24.9

Listen, I don't bicycle at all, so I don't, I mean, I know.

3:27.9

I used to be like, get out.

3:24.9

Listen, I don't bicycle at all.

3:26.4

So I don't, I mean, I know, I know how to ride a bike. Yeah. But I don't bicycle proper. I wonder if I still know because I used to ride bikes all the time back in Milwaukee. Yeah. And I could just, that was my mode of transportation. and it was plausible because it's a city

where everything I wanted,
