| 1:12.4 | the ACIP met as a reminder. That's the CDC's advisory committee on immunization practices. |
| 1:20.2 | There's a lot we could say about that. We've talked about it in our substacks and in our post, |
| 1:25.2 | so definitely go check those out. But one of the big takeaways |
| 1:27.9 | was that they voted on the hepatitis B universal birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine. |
| 1:35.8 | And unfortunately, they voted to not recommend the universal vaccine. For many of us in health |
| 1:43.0 | science, we were really horrified about that because the vaccine |
| 1:46.3 | has done such an incredible job at preventing hepatitis B, which in infants in particular, |
| 1:53.3 | if a child is infected with hepatitis B, it leads to all kinds of chronic disease issues, |
| 1:59.4 | problems throughout the lifespan, including cancer, |
| 2:04.0 | liver cancer, which is obviously something that we want to prevent. |
| 2:07.2 | The birth dose is very important because it is a safety net. |
