Let me before I even say the title again of what we're reviewing. I'm going to read just a little bit from Roger Ebert's review of this to justify, I think, why we are covering this film.

Yeah, like his internal logic to me is so funny. All right, here we go.

No, I said the film is the most violent I have ever seen. It will probably be the most violent you have ever seen.

This is not a criticism but an observation. The film is unsuitable for younger viewers but works powerfully for those who can endure it.

The MPAA's R rating is definitive proof that the organization either will never give the NC17 rating for violence alone or was intimidated by the subject matter.

Yeah, this movie is one of the glorious films ever made. Of course, we're talking about Passion of the Christ released in 2004.

And if you're wondering why the hell we're covering this movie, when it's Easter weekend, we're recording this weekend of Easter, which feels...

I don't know if it feels sacrilegious or correct. You know what I mean? We're trying in weird waters here.

But I just, I joked about doing this movie for a review like a year ago and then someone brought it up to me on Twitter or reminded me I made that joke and I said, you know, I'm going to commit to that bit.

I'm going to commit. You committed. And we're going to review this absolute snuff film of a movie. I think a reviewer called it a snuff film.

Yeah. He gave it a bad review. But yeah, Passion of the Christ, you've seen this before.

My mother took us to the theaters when it was out. Yeah. We were raised Catholic and my mom tried in starts and stops throughout my life to revitalize our Catholicism.

And I guess one of those attempts involved going to see the big JC suffering on the big screen. Yeah. Yeah.
