I've always wondered why Private Eye doesn't have bylines.

Obviously, some contributors do so for safety,

but investigative journalists at other institutions

do include their names so why not the eye not that I necessarily want them just wondering.

Well it's very simple if you give reporters bylines they get a certain amount of credit for the stories

whereas if you don't give them a byline then it's just you as editor and you say

it's all down to me and that's been the guiding principle.
