| 0:00.0 | Welcome to Syntax. We've got a show on remote coding agents and what are your options there. |
| 0:07.1 | So what we're talking about is that you, of course, I probably have used an agent where you're |
| 0:12.5 | sitting in your editor or sitting in your terminal and you type in the box and you wait for it to |
| 0:16.9 | come back and whatnot. And then sometimes you run into the situation where you go, oh, I wish I could |
| 0:22.6 | have these things run when I'm going home. Or I wish I could have these things running in parallel on a |
| 0:28.1 | different machine. Or I wish that I did my laptop. I did this the other day where I had an agent running |
| 0:34.1 | and then I go, oh, I got to bring my kid to something. So I tethered my phone |
| 0:38.3 | and I kept the laptop open in the passenger seat with my phone tethered to it. And I was like, |
| 0:43.2 | this would be way easier if I had remote agent setup. You and me are the same person. I did |
| 0:48.5 | that same thing on the way to dance. I had the laptop like creaked, not like open, but it creaked |
| 0:53.9 | exactly. Yeah, just so that it but it creaked open. Exactly. |
| 0:55.0 | Yeah, just so that it could finish whatever long-running task it was. |
| 0:59.0 | And I personally have moved so much off of this machine that when I have to wait for something on this machine, I get really annoyed with it. |
| 1:05.0 | Yes. |
| 1:06.0 | So we're back to thin client days, which is, if you don't know what that is, when computing |
| 1:12.6 | and mainframes were a thing, it was the big idea that like you have a server somewhere |
| 1:17.4 | running your heavy compute and then then your actual like terminal or your laptop is just |
| 1:22.6 | like a window into the stuff happening somewhere else. |
| 1:26.3 | So there's a lot happening in the space right now. |
| 1:29.4 | There's a lot of different solutions. There's a lot of DIY solutions. And of course, a lot of |
| 1:35.2 | these big AI players are trying to move you to their own solution for this as well. So we're |
| 1:41.1 | going to go through all of that. My name is West Boss. This is Scott. What's up, Scott? You ready for this? Yeah, I'm ready for this, man. I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready to talk about this stuff. I'm ready for the comments to tell us they don't want to hear about AI. That's what I'm ready for. Scott. The comments really bugs Scott. I'm sorry. Everyone, be a little nicer to Scott. You can tear into me it, though. I find them to be either hilarious or sometimes there's a little nugget of truth in there, and I appreciate that. They do bother me. Why is? I don't know why they. I've been on YouTube since 2012, and I've had more rude comments at my way than many people in this world, and they still bother me for some reason when I feel... It bothers me when I feel misrepresented. That's what bothers me. I hate it when people are like, oh, you've gotten the marching orders to talk more about AI or something. |
