All right. I'm joined today by someone a lot of you have probably heard from. And if I'm

going to be honest, I've been a fan of yours for a long time and didn't realize that it was you

that I was a fan of. Laura Beale, who is the host of the new hit podcast, Sympathy Paines,

who was also the reporter and host of the podcast, Dr. Death, and the vaping fix.

You've probably heard her voice before on the podcast waves.

That's my pleasure to be here.

So first of all, tell us a little bit about your, because you're in an interesting kind of

niche field. Are you considered a medical journalist? Is that, so you're a journalist, but

primarily only focusing in medical stuff? Yes. So I've been a medical journalist since I started in the

early 90s. So I've been around a while, and I worked in newspapers, most of my career, newspapers in Louisiana, and then mostly at the Dallas Morning News, Dallas, where I live, and I wrote about medicine.

I have a background in science, and science and medical issues, and that's all I've ever done. It's all I ever

wanted to do. And so I worked at the morning news. I quit in, golly, was it 2008? Not sure now. And

started freelancing, wrote mostly magazine features during that time. And I was

happily a magazine feature writer. And then I got a call from a company I had never heard of

before called Wondery. And they asked me if I would be, and they were new then too. I think at the time that they called me, I think everything, all their expenses were still
