If we think about a pen or a pencil, it has two ends. Let's look at a pencil. One end of the pencil you write with, and the other end of the pencil, you can erase what you write.

When we say ends, there are two ends.

To make ends meet, M-E-E-T.

Okay, so, for example, the pencil, can you make the writing part, that end of the pencil, meet the eraser end

of the pencil?

No, we can't because the pencil doesn't bend, right?

So what does this expression mean to make ends meet?

Well, the idea is to have your incoming money equal your outgoing money.

Do you understand?

So the money that you're making and the money that you're spending and saving should be even.

You want them to be the same.

That is making ends meet.
