Summary

This week we talk about one of the earliest stories of a serial killing family, better known as the Bloody Benders. They had the perfect setup for luring victims in as they served as a general store and inn for those headed out west. Unfortunately, many never made it back out again.

Hey everyone, it's Lindsay.

0:02.8

And it's Jen.

0:03.8

We wanted to take a quick moment to make a small edit to last week's episode about the Pike County Massacre.

0:12.2

We realized after the fact that for most of the episode, we referred to them as the Rodin family

0:19.1

because as we were researching the case, it was,

0:35.7

So we wanted to, one, apologize, because we always want to try to make sure to

0:42.0

include the victims. These are their lives, their families, their friends that were all affected.

0:48.0

So Jen is actually going to make sure that all of these victims are named so that they are, so that their lives are

0:56.9

remembered throughout this process. And the family that was murdered was Christopher Roden Sr.,

1:02.9

Christopher Roden Jr., Clarence, he went by Frankie Roden, Dana Lee Rodden, Gary Rodden, Hannah May Rodden, Hannah, Hazel, Gilly, and

1:16.2

Kethe Rodin.

1:17.8

Again, so sorry, we should have done a better job of mentioning these victims by name instead

1:23.8

of grouping them into just one big family.

1:26.9

And no one said anything.

1:28.2

It's just something we noticed on our own.

1:30.4

And we were kind of like, oh, my gosh, wait a minute.

1:32.5

I don't know that we did.

1:34.3

And again, it wasn't intentional.

1:35.8

It's just in a lot of the research, that's how it came across.
