Summary

Scott and Wes dive into Remix 3, exploring how it embraces native web standards like Events, Signals, and Streams to become a truly full-stack framework. They unpack what “LLM-ready,” thin APIs, and a standards-based approach mean for the future of web development. Welcome to Syntax. Today we're talking about remix three. I went to Remix Jam, which was their

0:07.6

conference in Toronto on Friday. And they gave us a CD, which is wild, with a demo on it.

0:16.1

And it was a fantastic conference. And basically what they did is they showed us what remix 3 is going to be.

0:25.4

So it's no more React.

0:27.2

It's this brand new thing that they've thought up.

0:29.1

It's full stack.

0:29.9

We're going to try to explain all of the little bits of it today here.

0:34.8

We're not going to go super in depth.

0:36.8

Like Ryan and Michael had, I don't know,

0:39.5

probably like four hours on stage and they still didn't get to the entire framework. So I'm

0:46.4

not going to get into every little, little bit of it. But I do hope to sort of explain to you the

0:52.0

angle and the ideas behind it. And then we're going to have Ryan and

0:55.2

Michael on in a coming episode to talk a little bit more about like, why did they do things?

1:00.9

And what are the, what's the component model look like? And why, X, Y, Z. You know, all the,

1:06.1

all the nitty gritty. So just as like a background, remix was a full stack React framework. And a lot of

1:15.7

those features or almost all of those features have moved back into React router. And remix, as you

1:21.9

know, it is essentially gone. And it's been reincarnated as a new full-stack framework that has has nothing to do with React

1:31.3

other than a lot of the ideas that they have are because they are fed up and frustrated with

1:40.1

the state of the React ecosystem. And that a lot has changed since React has sort of been rolled out.

1:49.0

So they kind of like peeled the back and said like what would a simple,

1:54.3

dead nut simple JavaScript full stack framework look like if we were to design it from scratch today.

2:03.1

And I'm pretty excited about it.
