When is corn ready to pick? It's a tougher answer than you realize. Corn ripens quickly and for only a few days, so the home gardener must watch for the signs that sweet corn is ready to harvest.
In this episode of the Beginner's Garden Podcast, I talk about how to know when corn ripens for harvest. (For more information on growing corn, check out these posts: how to grow corn and what I learned about corn last year.) Click below to listen or continue reading.

0:36.2 | And if there's anything that screams summer to me, |
0:40.5 | besides watermelon and cantaloupe, which we talked about in last week's episode, it's homegrown, |
0:46.3 | fresh corn on the cob. Does anyone else love that about summer? Well, corn was not something I actually |

1:48.5 | And then in episode number 61, it was last year's episode on lessons I learned from my summer garden. |
1:55.5 | And one thing that I learned is that you can plant corn in raised beds. |
2:00.4 | And I planted one entire corn planting in one raised bed, |
2:03.9 | and it pollinated pretty well, not as well as if I had had more corn, more space for it. |
2:09.8 | But if you're limited in space, that doesn't mean you can't grow corn. So definitely listen back |
