on the sociological approach to reducing risk and building resilience.

I'm your host, Dr. Donnelly Snipes. In this video, we're going to define

the socio-ecological model, which was posited by Brofenbrenner, gosh, many, many years ago. We'll apply

the model to the prevention of mental health, addictive, and stress-related disorders, we'll explore different variables

in a socio-ecological model and discuss how this framework can be used in prevention and even

treatment of co-occurring or multi-occurring disorders. So if you remember from the last

video, prevention can take the form of preventing the problem

from ever occurring, preventing somebody from ever developing an addiction or ever developing

diabetes, preventing worsening the problem.
