And today I want to talk about a subject.

It probably would have been more appropriate if I had recorded this during summer.

We've just passed Labor Day, but it's still a worthwhile message throughout the year.

And that is on the subject of swimming safety, particularly how to recognize the signs of drowning and what to do with that because this is something that a lot of people really don't

think about because they think about drowning in movies and they have an idea of it

but the way it actually happens in real life is completely different and this can lead to some really

tragic consequences. So the reason I wanted to talk about this particular subject, I've written down,

thought I really want to address this with people, is because last month there was actually a

triathlon event here in Texas where I live, and one of the participants tragically drowned in the triathlon.

And you would think, how could that be?

And triathlon, of course, is when you have three events,

you have the running, you have the biking,

and you have the swimming, all competitive, all put put together and you would think you have these

events there's going to be professional lifeguards there's people all watching everybody's

watching the athletes doing this and you have cameras actually you can actually see

this person start to get into distress it's on camera it's in the upper frame of the camera

uh... but nobody actually goes and responds to him. I think because a lot of people they like I said they think

about drowning being something very different in real life versus what might be depicted in the movie.

So I'm going to talk about these two instances that popped in my mind.

Then I want to go through the signs of drowning and distinguish them from what you might see in the movie.
