today is a Lisa Gabbart author of a new essay collection, called Any Person is the Only Self.

That length of text, like, the self. That phrase to me right now sounds like very boring and dead.

I'm like, ugh, the self. Like, what could I say about that? But like when I'm writing,

I'm not thinking of the phrase the self at all. It's like there's this whole rich complex of

concepts and associations that yes, down the line an interviewer could use the shorthand the self.

But, like, yeah, that's not how I'm thinking about it.
