On Fridays, I interview an individual with many years of experience from one of the most popular occupations or professions who shares an insider's look at what it's really like to do what they do.

I realized that I was seeing patient after patient,

and they were on 10 medicines, maybe more.

They couldn't keep them straight.

I couldn't keep them straight.

And they all had diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol.

They may have had a heart attack in the past.

And what I didn't realize was that it didn't have to be that way. They didn't have to have

type 2 diabetes. They didn't have to have those heart attacks. You know, those things could have

been prevented if they had been leading more healthy lives beforehand.

And I realized, after practicing for 18 years, that all I had ever been taught in medical

school and in residency was how to treat diseases.

We never learned how to keep people healthy.

Today I'm delighted to bring you our featured guest, Dr. Erica Blank, and our topic of the day,
