It's the end of June. It's our last episode on emerging technology for the month. And this week we're exploring 3D printing, what it is and what it could mean for society. 3D printing

promises to bring prototyping to the hands of almost anyone. So any,

almost any design that you have in your head, you can hold in your hands with a 3D printer,

or at least that's the promise. So in order to understand whether we've really come to a place

in which 3D printing for everyone is a possibility and to understand what the impact of this might be,

and of course the science behind it, I went to a conference held by O'Reilly called SolidCon.

It's a conference on hardware, software, and the internet of things. And there I met two individuals

whom I interviewed, Will Walker, from a company called Form Labs. Will is a sculptor,

designer, an educator, and Form Labs is a company that came out of MIT and is bringing 3D printing

to anyone who's interested in it. They even had a pop-up factory at the conference, which they

built in like six weeks, and while I was watching, they were manufacturing

this wearable product that I got to wear around the conference. So that's the first part of our
