| 0:16.5 | happiness, we don't think about silence. And yet I've called this podcast, The Silence of Happiness. Why? What am I talking about? |
| 0:29.1 | This is going to be one of those more complex podcasts, so you may need to listen to it more than once. But let's begin. |
| 0:36.2 | When we sleep at night what happens? When we're really still, when we're really quiet. |
| 0:44.0 | All is well. |
| 0:46.0 | We're in that very peaceful place, |
| 0:49.0 | which we call a good night sleep. |
| 0:51.0 | Without a good night sleep, we go mad. |
| 0:55.1 | Our lives are terrible and we struggle. |
| 0:58.3 | But when we sleep well, when we've been quiet throughout the night, we wake up refreshed and say, I had a good night's sleep. Why is that? |
| 1:09.5 | Well we know now that we really do need sleep or we will go mad. Sleep is an essential part of human |
| 1:16.5 | beings. We need it. We need it to live a healthy, happy life. If we don't get enough sleep, we're going to struggle. If we really get deprived of sleep, |
| 1:27.0 | we're going to go mad. So sleep is something that is desperately needed in order to live well in life. And what happens is sleep is one thing. |
| 1:37.2 | Our minds are still, the quiet, the quiescent. And from that quiet we find peace. And that's what this |
| 1:48.2 | podcast is about. Finding the peace and quiet, but it's not just about sleep. It's about living a life of more quiet. |
| 1:57.0 | Where we're not constantly engaging with life with our egos with our thoughts. |
| 2:02.0 | But we're more living in the zone, living in the present |
| 2:05.8 | moment without these thoughts. Of course this is easier said than done. So how do we do it? How do we live in the present moment without thoughts? |
| 2:17.0 | Or why do we even do it for that matter? Again, it gets back to we suffer when we think about things in negative ways. What happens is |
| 2:26.9 | something happens in our life like we lose our job, a relationship ends, we're |
| 2:32.0 | worried about our financial situation, and then we create a story |
