and my goal is to give beginning garden I have what I hope to be a very

timely episode for you today. In mid-July, one thing that we as

gardeners have to struggle with, a lot of the times is keeping our garden watered. In the heat of the

summer, rain is not as plentiful, and we're just not quite sure how to do this most basic thing. I mean, you would think it would be a

no-brainer, but it's a little more complicated than we realize. And frankly, I've been wanting

to do an episode on irrigation for a very long time, but every time I sat down to try to do it,

I thought, you know, I don't know enough about this yet to be able

to teach it well. And that's why I really wanted to get someone on the podcast who could teach

it better than me. So I'm thrilled to welcome back Joe Lample of the Joe Gardner show.

If you are a regular listener, you heard him on last week's episode where we

talked about tomato troubleshooting, but today he returns to talk to us about irrigating our gardens.

We're going to be talking about the most common ways to irrigate our gardens, such as hand

watering, soaker hoses, drip irrigation systems, and all the little details surrounding those.

We're also going to be talking about, okay, if you're supposed to get one inch of water per week,

what does that even mean if you're not measuring it? Or maybe you should. We'll talk about that too.

And then finally, I asked those of you who are members of my free Facebook

group, The Beginners Garden Shortcut, to tell me what questions you have when it comes to

irrigating your garden. I chose some of those, and Joe is going to answer those on the show today.
