As the wisdom of Solomon puts it,

let us test him with insult and torture that we may find out how gently he is and make

Greetings, people, loved by God.

So recall that last time we studied verses 15 through

22 of Proverbs 17 and we spent a bit of time on that 15th verse because of its importance in showing

what the Hebrew term for justify tends to mean, namely not to make righteous, but to declare or pronounce righteous.

We consider the important role that that verse played in the formula of Concord in the Lutheran
