Psalm chapter 132, verse 9.

Let your priests be clothed with righteousness.

And let your saints shout for joy.

This song is what's classified as like a royal psalm.

It really revolves around God's covenant with David the king.

God's promise to dwell among his people in glory and bless them in all kinds of ways,

protect them, lead them, guide them.

But right here in the middle of Psalm,

we hear this prayer right before this verse, verse 8, says, arise, O Lord, go to your resting place.

You in the ark of your might, the whole picture is God dwelling among his people like he's done

all throughout the Old Testament to this point in a tent,

a tabernacle and in a temple to come that Solomon will build.

And then the psalmist prays, let your priest be clothed with righteousness.

So the picture is those who serve in the temple, those who serve in the tabernacle, may they be clothed with righteousness and holiness, because they're the ones that represent God before the people and the people before God.

So righteousness is necessary in the presence of God.

And let your saints shout for joy. So you see this picture of

holiness, righteousness, and joy, gladness. And this is one of those places. We just can't leave this

in the Old Testament because we know that Jesus is our great high priest, whose righteousness

is totally perfect. He has gone into the temple,

what the Bible talks about at the end of the gospels when Jesus died on a cross, the curtain

of the temple was torn into and the way it was made for you and I to have access to God
