It's being reported that Pope Benedict XVI is very ill.

He is on the New York Times and all the major newspapers. Pope Francis asked for prayers for very ill, Benedict XVI.

So what's going on? Well of course we need to lift up our prayers and I'll lead us into prayer as we get to the ends of today's show.

But I want to update you on what we do know about Pope Benedict XVI and his health. So Vatican City, the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, has announced that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, his health has worsened due to his age and doctors are constantly monitoring the frail 95-year-olds condition.

This came out this morning earlier today in Rome. Keep in mind Pope Benedict XVI is 95 years old.

Vatican spokesman Mateo Bruni said Pope Francis, who asked the faithful earlier Wednesday to pray for Benedict, went to visit his predecessor in the monastery on Vatican grounds where the retired pontiff has lived since retiring in February 2013.

Quote, regarding the health conditions of the Emeritus Pope for whom Pope Francis asked for prayers at the end of the general audience this morning, I can confirm that in the last hours a worsening due to advanced age has happened.

That's the official language of the Vatican. A worsening due to advanced age has happened.

The situation at the moment remains under control, constantly monitored by doctors. The Vatican also clarified.

At the end of Pope Francis's Wednesday audience, Francis departed from his prepared remarks to say that Benedict is very sick.

Francis did not explain what that means, how chronic it is, if he's received last rights, if he's received extreme action, all we know is he is very sick.

And we have two sources saying that. One, Francis and then second Mateo Bruni, who is the official Vatican spokesman.

Francis said, quote, I'd like to ask all of you for a special prayer for Emeritus Pope Benedict, who in silence is sustaining the church, which is a very unusual way of saying it.

He's sustaining the church. Remember what our Lord Jesus Christ said, you are Peter. And on this rock, I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

Pope Francis later said, quote, I remind you that he is very sick. Let's ask the Lord to comfort him and sustain him in this testimony of love to the church to the very end.

Pope Benedict is at Mater Eclasia residence. And that is where Pope Francis went to visit him. So far, I found no pictures or any other information regarding the event.

Now, you remember Pope Benedict was the first pope to resign after a first pope to resign in 600 years.

And if when this happens, I mean, I'll just be frank, there's a lot of people who think Pope Benedict 16th still the Pope and Pope Francis is an imposter and is an anti-Christ. There's a lot of people. I am interested in that theory. I'm not a firm believer in it. I'm open to it.

But if Pope Benedict 16th dies, it's going to raise a lot of questions and it's going to turn up the heat on an already boiling kettle.
