What is the doomsday clock?

Well, the doomsday clock is a design that warns the public about how close we are to destroying our world with dangerous technologies of our own making.

It also includes climate change now.

It's a metaphor, a reminder of the perils we must address if we are to

survive on this planet. When the doomsday clock was created in 1947, the greatest danger to

humanity came from nuclear weapons, in particular from the prospect of the United States and the

Soviet Union, now Russia, were headed in a nuclear arms race. The bulletin considered possible

catastrophic disruptions

from climate change again in its hand settling deliberations for the first time in 2007.

Well, they updated the clock to 90 seconds to midnight, which is I think the closest it's ever been.

Someone can fact check me on the comments. I think it may have been 60 seconds or

like 30 seconds during like the Cuba missile crisis. But yeah, we're at 90 seconds. And I'm sure it's

actually closer to 90 seconds now because Israel's about to, if rumors are true, target Iranian

nuclear facilities. And we're going to be talking about that today. We're going to be doing a

couple news updates first before we get into it.
