So it's hard to sell you on ECW in 2025 unless you were there. Poor Hayman's alternative brand

created so much noise. If you were a nerd, one day you woke up and decided you had to see what

all the fuss was about. Let's be honest too. Both WCW and the WWF in the late 90s borrowed a lot of

their ideas to get even more popular and worked. To try and give you that feeling,

though, let us go back through some of the timeline and maybe you even learn a little something

too, because I am Simon Miller the bald idiot, and here's a few occasions where ECW was simply

the best thing, Anna. Number nine, nobody saw it coming. In 1994, Tommy Dreamer and the Sandman

were fighting when Dreamer accidentally blinded his

foe with a cigarette to the eyes. This came during an I quit match too, and given it was ECW,

which was crazy at the quietest of times, the fights were brutal, so the way this was sold,

well, it got a lot of people and a lot of people's eyebrows went up. Because rather than go

over the top and silly,

as soon as this happened, Tommy stopped and he showed genuine concern. We then learned the locker

room was also upset with Dreamer, especially because nobody knew of the Sandman was now ever going

to be able to compete again. Let me stress this too. People believed this ECW went full on. Tommy

even said he wanted to dedicate the rest of his career

to the man, especially when the Sandman walked to the ring as the real-life Jim Fullington.

He had Todd Gordon help him get in the squared circle too. He wasn't able to see because now he

was blind. Dreamer was so damn upset he whooped Tommy Cairo's ass, who was one of

Sandman's long-term rivals.

We really doubled down in this idea that Tommy Dreamer was going to completely change what his new aspirations in wrestling were.

And then, using Woman as a distraction, the Samman did reveal he was fine and honestly, he killed Dreamer with some of these cane shots.
