Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Kito and Interminute fasting podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight. All right, so there are actually nine reasons why someone is deficient in Vitamin D.

0:49.6

Let's go through them.

0:50.4

Number one, I don't know if you knew this, but bacteria in viruses have a unique

0:55.1

strategy of interfering with your absorption of vitamin D. There's what's called the

1:00.7

Vitamin D receptor and what they do is they block it.

1:04.8

So you can't get in a Vitamin D, which is essential for your immune system.

1:09.2

And that's how they survive.

1:10.8

And that's how they kind of break down your defenses by shutting down that vitamin D

1:14.7

before you can even get some help. The Epstein-Bar virus lowers the

1:20.2

vitamin D receptor. HIV virus completely stops the vitamin D receptor. Shuts it down. So if you have

1:30.1

HIV or Epstein Bar virus, you should be taking a lot of vitamin D.

1:34.8

T-B down regulates the vitamin D receptor.

1:38.2

So they're very devious, these viruses and bacteria.

1:41.8

They go right for this, the receptor for vitamin D.

1:45.8

And that's why a lot of different illnesses

1:48.5

use what's called Vitamin D receptor analogs, which are basically kind of they mimic

1:54.3

vitamin D and they actually bypass the system then go right in. But you can actually

1:58.2

do it other ways as well. You can increase the amount of vitamin D that you're taking. You can also take bio salts, but I'll do a separate video just on that.

2:09.4

Aging decreases the skin's conversion of vitamin D.
