Becky, Dana, Snitch. Everyone's back together. We're back to our monthly episodes, which I think has been more manageable for everyone.

We read this month I know why the Cage Bird sings by Maya Angelou.

It was a Becky's choice.

Becky, thank you so much for choosing this book.

Anytime, I feel so grateful that we all had a chance

to read this fantastic novel.

And I'm also just pleased that we took a moment to kind of like reassess the choices that we had been reading in the past which were all phenomenal, but we did a little divergence for all the right reasons and I feel like it was super

eye-opening in a lot of ways. Definitely. It was definitely an eye-opening book. I

have so many things to say about the story and the writing and the person and I can't

wait to get into it and hear all of our thoughts. But as you guys know we chose

this book in light of everything that's been going on in the country over the last month, but more so over the last years, decades, centuries. And we felt that there's never a better time than the president to really educate ourselves and

immerse ourselves and stories about racial injustice in this country, the

experiences of black people in this country. Maya Angelou is so awarded and celebrated and respected.

And I had heard so many good things about this book.

And I was so glad that you chose it because it was so powerful.

Oh my God, it has changed my world and it had been on my list for so long like there's a lot happening in the world

for sure but beyond that I've just wanted to read this novel for so so long is it a

novel I feel like it's a novel oh no no it's a memoir. Auto biography.

I know. I don't, I like can't mischaracterize what this work of art is, but yes, it's been on my list for so long and I'm really glad that everyone felt empowered by the selection.

Yes, it's also, I think, categorized as poetry, the way that she writes, each sentence is just packed with so much meaning like I would have to read a

sentence multiple times to understand every single facet of it do you know what I had to
