Hello, welcome to Football 301. I'm your host, Nate Tice, and we are live from

0:30.7

Indianapolis at the NFL Combine. We're going to talk about some off-season moves that we want

0:35.4

to see today, kind of fancy booking, some fan fiction.

0:38.7

We're just some storylines we want to see end at some point because we're tired of talking about that. That seems like a theme of some of our things. Some of our answer for this. But I am joined, as always. Not always, as always, but kind of as always. My guy, Matt Harmon. How you doing today, Matt? It shows like I just saw you about six hours ago.

0:53.8

Yeah.

0:54.4

Which is truly troubling that it was only six hours ago that we saw each other. But yeah, no, it was good, man. It's been a good week. I'm talking, like, you know, I've talked to just so many people. Like, way more than normal. I need a full day of silence. That's kind of what I need.

1:11.4

Silence for myself.

1:12.4

Tired of hearing the sound of my own voice, that is for sure. But very excited to do the show with you. I know. It feels like every time I do shows, I'm like, I need to carry mints around. It's like, because I just talking way too much and way too long every single day. But no, we're going to be talking even more today about some off-season moves we want to see, but also some news items as well as we some stuff goes around the NFL because it never, ever, ever, ever stops in the NFL. First off, we had, well, I don't want to step under your toes, but we had a trade. And this was an interesting trade because there was a player-for-player trade between the Jets and the Titans. And they traded Jermaine Johnson for Devandre Sweat, just like we all expected. Those are two hot names in the trade market hitting it. Headliner. Yes. Jermaine Johnson, I believe his contract is coming up. He is, or next year, following year's contract. Edge player has had injuries, but has been on the field.

2:01.2

It's been a nice, solid, good player.

2:02.9

Devandre Sweat had a real nice rookie year.

2:05.0

He had questions actually when he was at the combine his year about his weight, about off-field

2:09.7

stuff, is more just kind of commitment to the game.

2:11.4

Kind of saw a little bit more of that the second year.

2:14.1

A little trade here as they try, the Jets try to find a Quinn and Williams, I guess, replacement. Just another young stab at a guy, young dart throw. They did it with A.D. Mitchell. Now they're doing it here with sweat. And then now Jermaine Johnson is reuniting with Robert Sala in Tennessee. It's an edge. But what did you think about this? Makes sense. Tennessee definitely needs more edge presence. That's for sure. Gives them some flexibility at the fourth overall picked to say, hey, like, we got a young guy in the building here. We don't have to pigeonhole ourselves into an edge rusher at this standpoint. That's kind of what some of these moves are at this stage, is being able to give yourself optimal flexibility if you're one of these teams like Tennessee that has a lot of needs. Yes. Yeah. So that's the thing here is I think that's the biggest takeaway. But yeah, it's a nice stab on a guy who's obviously played for Robert Sala before should, you know, fit the system, the whole deal there. But that's a sweat part of this going back to New York is interesting because, yeah, you're right. He had a really nice rookie year, really nice rookie year then just i mean what went well in tennessee last year nothing essentially so maybe you can write it off to that but you're not really quite sure what you're getting if you're the jets and that's an entire team right now that i'm not quite sure what we're getting yeah and it's one of those where it's like okay he needs to go to a place that can really like maybe, like maybe some vets and be around him, maybe not a team that's been losing a bunch. So he goes to Tennessee and it's like, okay, well, maybe he finds a new, and he goes to the judge. And it's like, oh, man. Going from a team that's picking fourth to second. Yes. And, yeah, sweat is, he's so talented. He's huge. he's got light feet just watch his interception he had his had his rookie year, I believe, against the Bengals. And you get to see he's throwing a stiff arm out there. He has talent. Like true Pro Bowl talent. It's just that you can't rely on them. And that's going to kind of hang over his head until he proves otherwise. So I do think that it's, I think it's for the Jets, it's just they need to do this stuff. Like, all right, if we're not signing Johnson, we don't want to fully commit to him, new regime, all that stuff.

4:00.8

We didn't draft him. All right, might as well get someone that's going to kind of like, reset the contract years. Maybe you get a spot that's like, all right, we don't have anybody there anyways. So maybe drop in a player
