I'm Linda Sawyer. This week we sit down with one of Rachel and Dan's

closest inner circle friends, Audrey McVeigh. Audrey said she was the couple's third wheel for nearly four years before Daniel Wozniac

murdered his neighbor Sam Hare, along with Sam's friend and tutor Julie Kubuishi.

The stories you'll hear from Audrey provide a window into a bizarre alcohol and drug-fueled

existence, a world that made up Dan and Rachel's shocking law-breaking lifestyle.

I want to welcome Audrey McVeigh to Sleuth.

Thank you so much for being here. I want to tell our listeners that Audrey was a long-term friend,

actually probably one of the longest friendships that Rachel had prior to the murders.

I believe that Audrey, correct me if I'm wrong, you met her in the fall of 2006 when you both attended Long Beach Community College, right?

Yes.

And you were in the theater department?

I was doing technical theater, doing makeup and costumes, and she was doing acting.

So we didn't have many classes that coincided together,

but we did work on a show together.

And that's how you initially met. And what I know you had shared with me when we had interviewed a couple of years back that she was sort of awkward socially that people had very differing opinions of her.

So share with us because I know she was homeschooled, right?

Yeah, that was a huge red flag for everybody at theater.
