Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know

for Monday, May 27th. After deadly storms killed

nearly two dozen people in the Central US over the weekend, severe weather is

forecast for the East Coast and Southern Texas is expecting searing heat today.

Where the related deaths were reported in Texas, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Arkansas, after powerful

tornadoes ripped through the region.

We are CNN's Derek Van Dam for today's forecast.

Good morning, Joe.

Our multi-day severe weather threat continues on this memorial day this time encompassing over 120 million

Americans stretching from the mid-Atlantic all the way to the southeast. A few tornadoes

damaging wind gusts and large hail are possible anywhere from Atlanta to our nation's capital and New York.

On top of that, we're tracking a heat wave stretching across portions of Louisiana and into south central Texas heat

indices could top 115 degrees.

Israel says it's reviewing a strike that killed at least 45 civilians in a

shelter camp in the city of Raffa in Gaza. The Israeli military says it struck a

Hamas compound in the area yesterday and killed two senior officials from the militant group.

But officials in Gaza say the area was meant to be a safe zone for displaced Palestinians.

CNN's Nardab Bashir has seen distressing

footage from the aftermath. Well Joe we're seeing some of the most horrifying footage
