Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know

for Friday, May 31st. Donald Trump has been found guilty of 34

criminal charges, making him the only former US president in history to be convicted of a felony.

The jury deliberated for less than two days

before coming to the unanimous decision that Trump had falsified business records

to cover up hush money payments before the 2016 election. Here's Trump leaving the court

after the verdict was read out. This was a rigged decision right from day one and we will

fight for our Constitution. This is Lord from over.

His lawyer has already said they're going to appeal the verdict

as soon as possible.

Claiming New York City was not a fair place to hold the trial.

Now we're waiting to find out whether Trump could face any time in prison,

and the judge says he'll be sentenced on July 11th. Trump will still be able to continue his

2024 run because there's no law that says convicted felons can't run for president.

Though many states have laws that ban felons from voting.

And while both sides of the race are likely to lean heavily on this verdict in their campaigning,

it's unclear whether it will actually sway

voters one way or the other.
