After three weeks of twists and turns, House Republicans could finally be ready to come together and get behind a speaker

nominee.

Last night Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson won a secret ballot and he says he's calling

a full House vote this afternoon.

Of course, as the last few weeks have taught us, anything could still happen.

But Johnson seems confident about his chances.

This conference that you see, this House Republican majority is united.

And so far he does seem to have the backing of lawmakers from both ends of his party, including Matt Gates, the right-wing

congressman who was central to Kevin McCarthy being pushed out as speaker.

Mike is the right guy, he is an inspirational leader, I'm so excited to go elect him speaker of the House.

And Congressman Mike Lawler, who was very much against the ousting of McCarthy, and led the opposition to previous

right-wing candidate Jim Jordan.

We have to move forward and so we're going to rally around Mike Johnson.
